They say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, but you can also make lemon drizzle cake, lemon biscuits, a twist for a martini, or a citrus-scented candle...and that's exactly what Lux Ethica London®'s founder and CEO did...
 

It all started with bad news...

Sometime the best decisions are born from challenging times. 
It was autumn 2023 when Lux Ethica London®'s founder and CEO Stef found herself with plenty of time on her hands following a redundancy. Out of a much loved job, she decided that rather than feeling sorry for herself (she did a little bit of that too, let's be transparent), she would learn new skills, and make the most of the free time she had. 

Stef had always loved candles and regularly bought them for herself and for friends, but out of a job and wanting to cut down on expenses and interested in picking up a new hobby, she decided to learn candle science and making. Little did she know at the time how much she would enjoy the process, and how complicated it was!
At first Stef's candles were gifts for friends, but soon people wanted to buy them and started requesting them. That's when Stef started toying with the idea of launching a vegan and cruelty-free candle brand, where everything, from wax and scent to colour and containers would be plant-based and didn't involve the suffering of animals. Stef also wanted to make high quality products, using only the best raw materials, that would be safe for humans and animals alike. And that's when Lux Ethica London® was born.

At Lux Ethica London® we believe that luxury starts with love and respect. Respect for animals, nature and the planet, that's why our candles are vegan and cruelty-free. We vehemently oppose animal testing in all forms and won't use any animal-derived ingredients in our candles. We love, respect and protect animals. Nobody should suffer for our enjoyment.

Sustainability

At Lux Ethica London® we believe we should all do our bit to treat our planet and its inhabitants kindly and respectfully, and we strive to live a more sustainable life, that's why, not only we are vegan and cruelty-free, but wherever possible we recycle as much as we can and we reuse recyclable and recycled materials in our packaging, such as boxes, paper void fill and packing paper. We also avoid plastic whenever we can and don't utilise bubble wrap or other types of plastic in our packaging.
